Position AvailableJob Title: Equalization Data Entry Clerk I
Hourly Salary Range: $16.47 – $19.49
Under the supervision of the Equalization Director, the Data Entry Clerk I position performs a variety of tasks including, but not limited to: preparation of assessment and tax rolls county-wide; reviewing documents, property descriptions, and chains of title. Researches questions, assists in responding to inquiries, gathering data for the compilation of various reports, typing, scanning documents, filming documents, assisting the public, processing mail, and other typical clerical responsibilities.

Ability to communicate effectively with public/taxpayers, township officials, township assessors, financial institutions, survey companies, real estate professionals, attorneys, other County personnel, and the general public verbally and in writing; ability to speak with and before others with poise, voice control, confidence, and a well-modulated voice.
Ability to accurately record and deliver information, meet deadlines, and maintain the confidentiality of restricted information.
Ability to comprehend and correctly use a variety of informational documents, including deeds, titles, real/personal property statements, invoices, legal documents, state reports, flow charts, timesheets, and other reports and records.

Typical Duties:

Determining correct parcel ID numbers using tax maps, assessment rolls, surveys, etc.
Draw out property descriptions if necessary to determine the correct ID number.
Label deed with correct parcel ID number, class, current assessment, date of the change.
Identify parcel splits.
Process name and/or address changes in the computer system.
Contact local assessors and provide them with needed information.
Contact property owner or preparer of the deed if a possible error is detected.
Preparing correspondence related to deed processing or description corrections.
Answering phones, greeting customers, entering data, creating documents, receiving payments, etc.
All other duties as assigned
