GroupM is the world’s largest media investment company and are a part of WPP. In fact, we are responsible for one in every three ads you see globally.
The Talent function in GroupM is organized as Centers of Excellence (Rewards, Talent Acquisition, L&D, HR Operations) and Business partnership for the agencies/business units (Mindshare, Wavemaker, Essence, Mediacom, Motivator, GroupM).
This role sits at the intersection of our largest (2000+) and most future facing talent pool with the continuous imperative to experiment and harness the diverse opportunities across our specialist units – people skills, ways of working and remuneration models.
The essence of this role is future mapping talent to rapidly evolving organization needs. Facing the business, this person is the strategic advisor to executive team to ensure we do right by our people. As a pillar of the GroupM people leadership team, this person works closely with GroupM COVs to both draw upon and contribute to their expertise.
There are 2 aspects to the role:
Operational oversight of talent in GroupM business units –
GroupM services – the delivery excellence hub for GroupM agencies in India
GroupM Hub – largest of the three offshore hubs for GroupM globally servicing clients across the world
GroupM Products & Enablers – this vertical houses the specialist product offerings around e-commerce, addressable TV, addressable audiences, influencer marketing, content offerings ranging from films, sports to SFV.
GroupM People Synergy & Integration
This is a future oriented role that
Continuously examines our activation resource requirements in context of 3-5 year business goals & opportunities to define our talent approach – staffing, skills and structure.
Brings together the Activation and Specialist Units both as talent cohorts and works seamlessly with agencies to showcase future opportunities for clients and client leaders
Works across agencies, activation and specialists to land both formal enablers (process, ways of working, information flow and decision-making) and g informal enablers (norms, talent tribes, mindsets)
These twin deliverables feed off each other –the latter proving the projects, principles and initiatives while the former provides the insight to enrich and avenues for landing initiatives.

Managing the highest ‘density’ of talent, this person is pivotal to our imperatives of growth & transformation. This role works closely with the GroupM India Exco, talent verticals in multiple capacities as senior talent leader, strategic advisor, facilitator, mediator and cheerleader.
Indicators of Progress
In three months:
Get a thorough understanding of the GroupM Structure across Agency network, GroupM Services and GroupM Products & Services units
Appreciate ways of working within HR function across Centres of Value (COV) and Agency Talent network
Get to know and understand your team
Orientation to business through induction sessions with all key stakeholders and expectations assessment their talent priorities
Understand the needs of Exco stakeholders, practice/pod leads and agencies with a view to start identifying points of tension/opportunities for collaboration
In six months:
Identify 3 – 5 critical projects with clear articulation of scope, audience, measurement metrics, timelines
Submit a project charter detailing outcome-based milestone for the aligned projects
Propose, review and align larger team deliverables customizing goals to distinct needs of each of the three cohorts (GMS, Hub, Products & services)
In twelve months:
Sound understanding of all businesses and inter-dependencies
Set organization level KPIs, and then aligning agency/shared KPIs and individual KPIs to the same.
Create context of culture as an anchor to bring together communities of future facing talent, engage them and enable cross function collaboration
Weave specific nuances of business priorities into talent strategy and be the counsel and partner to all stakeholders in helping them prioritize
Counsel to leadership in balancing empathy and results, alleviate silos and facilitate frameworks to leverage GroupM unique offerings for agencies and clients
Weave together Strategy, Culture and Operational Excellence- Develop effective communication and relationships with the executive team and stakeholders; ensure they are empowered with critical talent information and metrics needed to drive the best business decisions

What you’ll bring:
We are looking for a seasoned talent professional with 15+ years of experience who brings business understanding, common sense, maturity and empathy to their team and work.
It is the hallmark of our company that our leaders are thinkers as much as doers and so, a willingness to roll up your sleeves is a must.
Prior experience in handling scale, complexity and large- scale transitions would be an asset, must have handled teams before.
Given the nature of the role, a demonstrated ability to translate business strategies/priorities/goals into people strategies/priorities/goals and then into projects is critical. Else, the operational oversight aspect will overwhelm the future facing scope of the role.
You will be required to manage multiple tasks while remaining proactive and flexible in style. And of course, ability to handle large amounts of confidential/sensitive information on a frequent basis is critical in our jobs.
This role requires a proven track record in objectively and compassionately coaching employees and management through complex, difficult issues and mitigating risks.
Ability to link up GMS/ HUB to regional vision and local adaptations
