POSITION SUMMARY: A fruit packer is responsible for ensuring only the highest quality fruit is packed for shipment and meets or exceeds the Company’s established quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Quickly and accurately classify and pack different varieties of fruit (e.g. peaches, plums, apricots, nectarines, and citrus).
Package and weigh fruit according to pack request specifications.
Review fruit samples multiple times throughout the day to ensure proper classification of defects.
Review fruit returned to you that does not meet grade standards, sign records of acknowledgment, and repack fruit as necessary.
Maintain a clean work area following the established housekeeping and food safety procedures.
Report any safety-related concerns to the supervisor and management.
Report to other satellite plants for special repack requests or to provide the various locations with additional support as needed.


Adaptable and Flexible: Enjoys doing work that requires frequent shifts in direction. Ability to assist in different departments as needed based on company needs.
Detail-Oriented: Ability to hear, see (near & far), and distinguish color to properly classify the various grades and defects.
High-Stress Tolerance: Thrives in a high-pressure environment.
Excellent hand-eye coordination
Physical stamina: Ability to work long shifts, stand in place for long periods of time, and perform highly repetitive tasks, such as grasping fruit, twisting at the neck and waist, walking, climbing stairs, and constantly reaching above and below shoulders.
Physical Strength: Ability to push, pull, and lift 30+ pounds consistently throughout the day.
Communication Skills: Ability to professionally communicate with others and receptive to constructive feedback.
Listening Skills: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Basic reading, writing, and math skills.

Education and Experience

1-3 months of experience within the last year of packing and classifying fresh fruit; preferred but not required.
Ability to successfully pass the Initial Packer Evaluation Program and meet the different quotas at each phase, throughout the progression of the course.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to a typical fast-paced production environment —high industrial and agricultural equipment traffic, extreme temperatures in an environment exposed to dust, peach fuzz, and other natural elements. The employee is expected to travel to the different locations (within 50 miles radius distance from the primary location) for multiple processes (e.g., onboarding, training, packing, repacking, etc.).
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, overtime, double-time, and holidays throughout the duration of our pack season (May to October); this is critical to support the needs of the business and is subject to change.
